Abstrak

ABSTRACT

The background of this research was  the lack of interest and ability to write short stories from the students class X C of SMA 1 Rokan IV Koto Rokan Hulu Riau districts. The purpose of this research was to describe increasing the interest and ability to write short stories of the students class X C based on experiential learning in SMA 1 Rokan IV KotoKabupaten Rokan Hulu Riau. The theory was used are expressed by BurhanNurgiyantoro (2003) about short stories, Hamdani (2011) about interest and Hosnan (2014) about experiential learning. This research was a class room action research.The subject of this research was the students class X C  at SMA 1 Rokan IV Koto Kabupaten Rokan Hulu Riau,consist of 25 students. The collected the data used observation sheet, writing test, field recording, and questionnaires on interest. The technique of analyzing data was (1)to counted the result of interest of each student’s by using formulaalloted student’s score divided the total number of score tines one handred percent and to counted the average by using the formula allotted the total number of  score divided the total number of students.(2) to counted the result of students’ writing in write short stories by using the formulaalloted student’s score divided the total number of score tines one handred, and to counted the average by using the formula alloted the total number of score divided the total number of students.This research was implemented into 2 cyles. Each cycle was implemented about twice meeting. In cycle 1, the first meeting wer implemented on May 3th 2016 and the secend score meeting was implemented on May 4th 2016, while in cycle 2, the first meeting was implemented by May 18th 2016 and secan meeting was implemented on May 24th 2016. Based on the result of this research can be known: (1)average of results the interest in write short stories of students in the first cycle was 79.46 %  and rised to 83.89 % in the second cycle. (2) The average results of students to write short stories in the first cycle was 75.95 and rised to 87.75 in the second cycle. Based on explanation above, it can  be concluded that the use of experiential learning models can increase the interest and ability of the students to write short stories
