ASPEK MOTIVASI DALAM BIOGRAFI CHAIRUL TANJUNG SI ANAK SINGKONG KARYA TJAHJA GUNAWAN DIREDJA

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to describe: (1) the structure of the narrative biography CTSAS by Tjahja Gunawan Diredja which includes characterization, plot, and setting, (2) the aspect of motivation in the biography CTSAS by Tjahja Gunawan Diredja, (3) the relationship between the structure of the narrative with aspect of motivation in biography CTSAS by Tjahja Gunawan Diredja. The theory used are the opinion of David McClelland (in Siagian, 2012) about motivation, and opinions Gorys Keraf (2004) about the structure of the narrative. The type of research is a qualitative with descriptive methods. The object of this  research is a biography CTSAS, focusing narrative structure and motivational aspect of the main characters. Data collection techniques in this research are as follows: (1) read the biography, (2) record and marking the data relating to the object of research. (3) grouping data based on research problems. The steps in analyzing the data is (1) analyze the narrative structure that characterization, plot and setting that affect the success of the main character, (2) analyze data about aspects of motivation, (3) interpret the relationship between narrative structure with motivational aspects that have been classified, and (4) make conclusions based on analysis and interpretation. Mechanical testing the validity of the data used, the constancy of observation. Based on the analysis it can be concluded that the first plot used is chronological plot, figures that often appear in this biography are Chairul Tajnung, Anita, Halimah, A.G. Tanjung, Boy M. Bachtiar, Mas Yan Daryono. Drg. Moh. Arifin. These figures are hard-working, disciplined, not easily are discouraged, and bold in taking risks. The place setting in this biography are in Jakarta, Universitas Indonesia, Istana Bogor, Bandung, Sumatera Barat, and Medan. Timescapes lasted from 1980 to 2012. Background atmosphere in this biography is happy, sad, frustrated, excited, and surprised. Secondly, in this biography was found three motivational aspects, namely (1) motivation needs for achievement which appears in the form of business to do anything to achieve his goals, (2) motivations need for power which appears in a desire to have an influence on others and serve as competition positive for the character, (3) motivation needs for affiliation which is manifested in the form of business needs by working with others and avoid competition. The Third, the relationship between narrative structure with motivational aspects are interrelated and interconnected, thus affecting the success of the main character. Thus, it can conclude that in the biography CTSAS has many aspects of motivation.
