Abstract

The history of human civilization and social development is closely related to the universal role of material obtained material -that humans and can been processed to display the desired properties in order to create objects. human and material relations developed rapidly over the centuries up to now, and one way to process the material with the splicing process or method by using the SMAW welding electrode 6013 by varying the diameter of 4,0 mm sabagai welding current welding variables. One material that is often dugunakan diindustri and construction is steel construction / low carbon steel. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in welding current and heat input to the weld metal, mechanical properties by using tensile and impact test equipment. This research uses experimental method and this research type is quantitative research. The test specimen tensile strength ASTM D638 standard refers to the results obtained by the tensile strength of the connection seam yield stress V 322.55 N / mm 2, the maximum tensile stress is 477.71 N / mm 2 and tensile 332.29 N / mm with variable welding current 165-175 ( 170) ampere. For maximum tensile stress and tensile strength showed that an increase in the strength of materials where sebulum welding material has a maximum tensile strength of 458.17 N / mm 2, and the tensile 323.57 N / mm 2, with dimikian concluded that the material becomes stronger after the process Welding is indicated by the value of breaking strength and tensile stress, then sahil this study in accordance with the initial purpose of this study.
