Abstract

Kemiri shell is one material that has a hard nature, strong, thick enough and woody, In general, the community makes the shell of
candlenut as waste. Objectives to be achieved in this research is To Determine the mechanical properties of polyethylene
composite and powdery powders D <45 μm. Polyethylene is used as a matrix mixed with a hazelnut shell powder as a filler with a
composition of 50%, 60%, and 70% by weight. The test procedure is Hardness and Pull Testing with ASTM D3039 (110mm x
10mm x 3mm), and Impact Testing with ASTM E23 (55mm x 10mm x 10mm). Overall, the test has resulted in hardness of 91,318
HD, impact strength 1,471 J / mm2, and tensile strength 4,251 N / mm2.
