Abstract

Sea water becomes the greatest potential that we can take as clean water and salt. This research uses 3 kg LPG gas fuel, gas stove and cooler to get clean water productivity using distillation method. By varying the opening of 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4 gas stove as a seawater heater in a pot, the performance of the device is as follows: at aperture ¼ obtained η heat efficiency of 42.99% with heat transfer rate q 161,68 watt with the highest achievement of clean water productivity 550 ml and gas usage equal to 416 gr, Aperture 2/4 obtained by heat efficiency η 37,29% with heat transfer rate q equal to 159,64 watt with highest achievement of clean water productivity 820 ml and gas usage of 746 gr. Aperture 3/4 obtained by heat efficiency η equal to 33,01% with heat transfer rate q equal to 160,26 watt with highest achievement of 900 ml clean water productivity and gas usage as much as 886 gr. Aperture 4/4 obtained η heat efficiency of 27.75% with a heat transfer rate q of 161,99 watts with the highest achievement of 1100 ml clean water productivity and 975 gr of gas usage.
