Abstract

Drying is the reduction of the water content of the material to the state of equilibrium with the surrounding air so that the material can be stored for long period of time and avoid the fungus attack, this study aims to determine the energy obtained from the condenser and determine the drying time using air conditioning machine, from the test results get an average temperature of one shelf of 47.6 oC and a two rack temperature of 45.2 oC. The heat released by the condenser gets a value of 269.32 kj / kg, the energy that goes into the dryer room is 417.6 watts, the airflow rate is 4.9 m / s. The banana-dried material with an initial weight of 2 kg obtains a dry weight of 1.858 kg with a final water content of 6.5%, and an initial weighing of 2 kg of dry weight 1,856 kg with a final moisture content of 6.6% for 150 minutes. Dimensions of dryer 80 x 100 x 120 cm, distance between racks 28 cm, length of air duct 11 cm, 5 mm thick pieces of carrots, 2 mm thick banana incision, Panasonic brand air conditioning machine using R-22 refrigerant, compressor has a power of 1.5 PK.
