ANALISA KEKUATAN TEKAN MATERIAL BIOKOMPOSIT HAp-BOROSILIKAT PADA TEMPERATUR SINTERING 900°C DENGAN VARIASI TEKANAN DAN KOMPOSISI

Abstract

The motivation for developing Hydroxyapatite-based Biocomposites derives from the need for bone graft materials to make materials with better strength and toughness without sacrificing biocompatibility. For this purpose, Hydroxyapatite may be used in combination with other metal/ceramic phases, which can improve the physical properties of Hydroxyapatite without damaging its biocompatibility. Added elements in the formation of this Hydroxyapatite is Borosilicate (Borax and Silica). Mixing of this material is arranged with certain composition using Ball Milling. To form the test specimen then, the printing with pressure force of 5, 15, and 25 kN and then sintered at temperature 9000 C. To know the value of compressive strength of the hydroxyapatite-borosilicate biocomposite then tested, that is test of Compressive Force. From result of test of compressive strength got optimum value for hydroxyapatite formation that is at composition 75%: 25% on compressive force 25 kN with value of compressive strength equal to 32,38 Mpa. This suggests that the addition of borosilicate in the formation of biocomposites does not alter the chemical structure of hydroxyapatite.
