Abstract

Hydroxyapatite is the most commonly used compound, especially in the orthopedic and periodontal fields. Hydroxyapatite is a mineral compound belonging to the apatite mineral group which is the main inorganic element which makes up bones and teeth. However, hydroxyapatite is brittle so it is rather difficult to form according to the implant material needed as a bone replacement. The hydroxyapatite powder used for implants in damaged bones has the disadvantage of being unstable as implants. Porosity is the percentage of the ratio of empty volume (cavity) to the volume of solid objects. Porosity in hydroxyapatite serves to distribute food, liquid blood, etc. which all aim for bone graft growth. This study aims to determine the porosity of HAP-Borosilicate biocomposite material with a variety of mold pressure and composition styles at temperatures of 1000ºC with a print pressure force of 5 kN, 15 kN and 25 kN. It can be concluded that the more borosilicate powder, the mechanical properties of biocomposites produced after testing also have different properties, there are those that have large porosity and some have small porosity, the results of specimens that have been made can grow if implanted in the human body.
