Abstract

Quality is one thing that must be considered by the company because it is one of the main factors of the consumer's decision to buy a product. Six sigma can be defined as a method to improve quality in improving processes focused on efforts to reduce defects, which have the possibility of 3.4 failures per-million opportunities (defect per-million opportunities-DPMO) for each product transaction. The study was conducted by applying the Six Sigma method that uses the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control (DMAIC) cycles which aims to improve the quality of the 240 ml cup of bottled water. At PT. Gunung Naga Mas is still often found with defective products in the production process. The biggest defect in the production process is the cup reject supplier, because it cannot be measured and observed for the root, whereas for the second biggest defect that is leaky cup-pp, this is can be measured and observed for the root and occurring in the production process. The define stage known as the dominant cup-pp leaked and the root cause of the defect in the leaky pp-cup was analyzed using fishbone diagrams and obtained potential CTQ namely lack of training and absence of work procedures. In the measure phase, it is known as the performance baseline results, namely the company's DPMO of 78368.15232 with the level of 2.923. in the improve phase, the results of the improvement are made by making work instructions on water filling stations and making periodic machine maintenance instructions.
