Abstract

Electrical energy has a very important role in efforts to improve the quality of life and economic growth in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Tanjung village has potential in the development of Micro Hydro Power Plants (MHP). Cross flow turbine is the right choice in PLTMH design because it has several advantages including, it operates at large discharge with high low water fall and easier and more robust manufacturing process. Frequency control systems in PLTMH generally have two types, namely, governor (water discharge regulation system) and Electronic Load Controllerc (ELC) electronic load control system. The lack of a PLTMH control system with ELC where generators are always operated in full load conditions, so that energy is wasted using ELC through the complement load system on the ELC. Frequency settings use a governor to regulate the water entering the turbine through a sluice gate. To perform this function, the sensor in the governor system measures the frequency generated by the generator by converting the frequency of the generator generated to a DC voltage that is linear to frequency or called F to V conversion. The frequency control system uses a closed loop control system, where the frequency will be controlled using Arduino Uno based PID control system. Frequency sensors are those that convert frequency to voltage as input for execution to the actuator / governor via Arduino when the frequency goes down or rises to close and open the floodgates on the generator turbine.
