Abstract


ABSTRACT

                    The mercury marketing / sales on the market are judged by its specific gravity, where the specific weight of mercury received in the market is 14.8 - 15 g / cm3. The pure mercury density obtained from the stone cyclones was 13.74 g / cm3. So there is a problem of unacceptable mercury of mining products that have a density of 13.74 gr / cm3 by the market. The equation used to calculate the amount of gold to be added to increase the mercury density (at room temperature = 270C) is y = 0.022x + 13.722. Where y is mercury Density and x is the amount of gold addition. The solubility value of gold in mercury was 0.03 g / ml. The soluble metal impurities in mercury are gold, while silver and other impurities are insoluble in mercury. Thus, the impurity metal which can be used to increase mercury density is only gold (Au).
