Abstract

Bioethanol is the one of fuels derived from vegetable oil generated from the fermentation process of sugar. Bioethanol has a different grade for every used. During production of bioethanol is usually using tubers such as cassava, yam taro, tuber gadung, and so on. Research on the production of bioethanol from dahlia bulbs with enzyme or acidic catalysts has never been done. And the purpose of this research is to make bioethanol from dahlia bulbs by observing volume of enzyme and fermentation time. The first step of raw material preparation was hydrolyzed using α-amylase and glucoamylase (0.77 and 1.85 ml) then fermented by saccaromyces cerevisiae microbe, with variation of fermentation time 6 and 7 days. The results showed that the highest glucose concentration was obtained by the addition of 1.85 ml glucoamylase enzyme volume as much as 5.474% and the optimal fermentation time is 7 day that obtined 3.16% of bioethanol content.
