Abstract

Corn is one of the largest commodities in Indonesia by producing corncob waste of around 30 million tons in production in 2018, corn cobs themselves contain 40% cellulose, 36% hemicellulose, 16% lignin and 7% water which can be used as a material for making bioethanol. Bioethanol (bioethanol) is ethanol (ethyl alcohol) whose production process uses natural raw materials and biological processes, in contrast to synthetic ethanol obtained from chemical synthesis of hydrocarbon compounds. In this study, the process of making bioethanol aims to determine the effect of solvents on the hydrolysis sugar yield and bioethanol levels obtained. In this study, three types of acids were used, namely H2SO4, HCl, and CH3COOH. After the corn cobs went through the hydrolysis and fermentation processes, the results obtained were 4% bioethanol for H2SO4, 5% HCl and 1% CH3COOH, and 84 mg / dl for HCL, 80 mg / dl for H2SO4 and 37mg / dl for CH3COOH.
