Abstract

Durian seeds (Durio Ziberhinus) are renewable waste with 36% starch content and under optimal conditions, durian seed productivity can reach 1.6 tonnes / hectare so durian seeds are very prospective for producing glucose by hydrolysis method for bioethanol raw materials. Glucose can be obtained by hydrolysis of starch with an acid catalyst. This research aims to determine whether durian seed waste can be used as a raw material for the manufacture of bioethanol and to determine the effect of temperature, time and acid concentration used. This study used hydrolysis variables, namely the type of acid (glacial CH3COOH and market CH3COOH), time (1,5; 2; 3; 4) hours, temperature (70; 90; 110; 130) ◦C. In this study, the highest gluocose content was obtained in glacial CH3COOH, namely at a concentration of 2.5%, time 240 minutes, a temperature of 110◦C was 153 mg / dl and market CH3COOH, namely at a concentration of 25%, time 90 minutes, temperature 130◦C was 77 mg / dl.
