Abstract

ABSTRACT Bioethanol is alcohol produced from the fermentation process of glucose (sugar). Apart from being used as an additive in fuel, bioethanol can be used as a solvent. The bioethanol currently on the market comes from chemicals, so there is doubt if it is used to extract food ingredients. One source of raw materials that can be used to produce bioethanol is pineapple peel. In this research, the process of making bioethanol is carried out by means of the direct fermentation method without the hydrolysis process. After testing the level of glucose in the pineapple peel, namely 1.28%, the yield of bioethanol is 0.16%. Furthermore, it was carried out repeated refining 3 times so that the bioethanol concentration increased, namely 59.55%.
