Abstract

Biogas is one of the renewable energies, biogas can be produced from various types of biomass, one of which is palm oil effluent (POME). POME is a by-product of processing oil palm fresh fruit bunches into crude palm oil. There are various methods for producing biogas and the method used in this research is a combination of plasma and aerobic Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) methods. The biogas production process using a combination of the Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) Plasma system method is carried out by varying the voltage (15 kV, 20 kV and 25 kV) using 800 ml POME samples, 2 hours time and figaro TGS 821 H2 sensors, figaro TGS 816 CH¬4, Figaro CDM 7160 CO2 and Figaro CDM 7160 CO and are equipped with an aerator. The results of the study using a voltage of 25 kV and a time of 120 minutes H2, CO2, CH4, and CO gases produced respectively were 7.211 mg/L, 514 mg/L, 11,318 mg/L and 123.19 mg/L. And the COD value of the sample decreased by 55–65% after being given a voltage of 15 kV, 20 kV and 25 kV.
