Abstract

One of the attractive plastic recycling alternatives is the use of plastic waste as a cement mixture to produce plastic cement composites and as concrete aggregates to produce construction materials. The use of plastic for construction materials can increase elasticity and durability and reduce density so that the material becomes lighter. In addition, the use of plastic waste is also expected to produce construction materials at cheaper prices, and what is important is the existence of alternative solutions in handling and utilizing plastic waste to prevent environmental pollution. This study aims to determine the value of the compressive strength test of paving blocks using raw materials from plastic waste and to determine the value of the absorption test of paving blocks using raw materials from plastic waste. In this study, paving blocks were made from PP plastic waste using sand, cement, plastic and water. The variations used were 250 grams of cement mass, 8 days of soaking time, plastic waste compost (0%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, 2.5%), sand (1250 grams, 1237.5 grams, 1231, 25 grams, 1225 grams and 1218.75 grams). Based on SNI 03- 0691 (1996), paving blocks from PP plastic waste have entered the classification of quality D paving blocks with a minimum compressive strength of 8.5 mPa which are used for gardens and other uses.
