Floor cleaners generally use active chemical based substances such as Benzalkonium Chlorid, Cresylic Acid, Ethoxylated Alcohol. In this study using lemongrass oil and hydrosol as active substances. Citronella which is contained in citronella oil and lemongrass hydrosol is expected to be able to inhibit the growth of Escherichia Coli bacteria, which are mostly on the floor surface. Observations included emulsion and homogeneity, pH, free alkaline, viscosity and ability to inhibit the growth of Escherichia Coli bacteria using variations in the mass percentage of active substances added, namely 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5%. To find a viscosity in accordance with Floor Cleaning standards, variations were made to the mass percentage of HydroxyEtyl Cellulose (HEC), namely 0.25%, 0.5%, 0.75%, 1%, 1.25%. Emulsion data, homogeneity and free alkali are strongly influenced by the saponification reaction between triglycerides and bases that form soap and glycerol. The ability of floor cleaners to inhibit the growth of Escherichia Coli bacteria is strongly influenced by the levels of Citronella in the oil and Citronella Hydrosol.References
