Abstract

The pump is rotating equipment that has important roles in the petroleum industry to
raise the oil from the earth. The performance of pump can not be separate from the
operation or maintenance. An evaluation of the performance of pump will be able to
provide an over view of the pump condition, so that measures can be taken to further
optimize the performance of the pump. This study was aimed to evaluate the
performance of the pump, the results of the performance conditions attached of the
pump on the theoretical will be compared. From the results of this study, a decrease in
the performance of the pump where the calculation results in pump performance can
decrease total dynamic head of 1401.34 ft to 1275 bpd discharge eobtained an efficiency
of 94 %, the results of the performance of the pump is not efficient, because the pump
exceeds the range recommended by the manufacture so that the pump does not work
until specified time limit. Thus the researcher did the analysis again to change the pump
setting depth, head/stage to the same pump type and the number of stages in the pump
so as to get a total dynamic head of 1437ft with a discharge of 1199 bpd obtained an
efficiency of 99 %. Analysis of the result so btained with the pump still works in the
maximal range by changing the size of the head/stage. At the pump problems that may
occur in mechanical and fluid. That causes a decline in the performance of the pump.
