ADSORPTION OF METHYLENE BLUE USING ZEOLITE X SYNTHETIZED FROM KAOLIN BANGKA-NEFI

Zeolite is a micro porous aluminosilicate mineral that has a wide spesific surface area. Its wide surface area causes zeolite to be commonly used as an adsorbent. Zeolite synthesis was carried out using a dealumination process, namely mixing metakaolin resulting from kaolin calcination at a temperature of 750°C for 2 hours, with HCl then mixed with NaOH solution with various concentrations of NaOH 1.3 N, 1.5 N and 1.7 N. The NaOH concentration might determine the type of zeolite obtained. The adsorption of methylene blue using zeolite-X synthesized kaolin from Bangka Belitung with initial concentration variations between 20, 30, 40, and 50 mg/L and contact time 90 min. The analysis of the kinetics adsorption equation shows that the adsorption process of methylene blue follows Freundlich isothermal equation.and Langmuir.References
