Abstract
The increasing problem of plastic waste requires innovative solutions to support the recycling process. This study aims to design and manufacture a plastic bottle shredder machine using an electric motor, which is capable of converting plastic waste into small pieces measuring ±0.5 cm. This machine is designed to improve the efficiency of the plastic waste processing process, both in terms of transportation, storage, and further processing. The methods used in the study include designing the main components such as electric motors, hoppers, shafts, bearings, shredder blades, and machine frames. The manufacturing process involves turning, welding, drilling, and component assembly techniques. Testing was carried out to evaluate the performance of the machine in shredding used plastic bottles into high-quality shreds. The results of the study showed that this shredder machine is effective in increasing the selling value of plastic waste and facilitating the recycling process at the community and industrial levels. In addition, the machine design has been adjusted to ensure operational safety and energy efficiency. With this machine, it is expected to support efforts to reduce plastic waste while opening up new business opportunities in plastic waste management.Downloads
