ium voltage overhead lines distribution 20 kV power line which is the longest and widely used in Indonesia. Medium voltage overhead lines distribution 20 kV using AAAC conductors and very prone to interference from lightning strikes and other disturbances. Investigations regarding this surge is very important, especially disorders induced lightning surges generate voltage. But with the increasing number of disorders of the medium voltage overhead line either in the city or outside the city, should give serious attention to the protection of surge or lightning strike. To protect the medium voltage overhead lines 20 kV against lightning bolt of lightning arresters used and melting fuse (fuse cut-out). Lightning arresters serves as a shortcut to reduce overvoltage surge. Lightning arresters form an easy path traversed by the current surge or lightning, so as not to cause more stress resulting in faulty electrical equipment. In normal conditions serves as an insulator lightning arresters and surge arise when more will serve as a conductor. Meanwhile, melt the fuse function provides protection due to the flow of sparks
between the phase wire or short circuit. Medium voltage overhead lines distribution 20 kV with the closest distance that the phase conductors S to T within 65 cm, due to the excess of 21.7943 kV voltage causing sparks flow of 775.59 Amper.
