PREDIKSI WAKTU PENGENTALAN (GELL TIME) DENGAN MEMPERTIMBANGKAN FAKTOR DAN INTERAKSI FAKTOR PADA PROSES PRODUKSI FIBERGLASS REINFORCED POLYESTER DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN METODA TAGUCHI

Abstract

Fiberglass material  can replace products made from wood, metal, and others. Fiberglass is widely used in daily life, as well as having a better strength of plastic, and the colors do not easily fade. Examples of products made from fiberglass, namely: water tank, outside and within the framework of a motor vehicle, decorations or ornaments, trash, waterslide, boat and others. Fiberglass production process consists of some mixture of them thickener (Thixotropic), filler (resin), desiccant (catalyst), and the reinforcing material (glass fiber), MMA (bleach), dyes, etc. The manufacturing process of mixing these ingredients according to the specific composition, depending on the physical properties of the product to be made. One of the most important ingredient is the catalyst. The amount of catalyst to be used greatly affect the coagulation time. If the material has been mixed with the catalyst, then the worker must know how long it’s Gell Time, because of the gell material can not be used anymore (Reject), therefore it is necessary to study how much influence the interaction of  factors in making fiberglass against coagulation time (Gell time) and find out the time of coagulation (Gell time) a fiberglass of nature or physical form of the desired product in accordance with the composition determined in order to know the long process of making a fiberglass, with the catalyst as a major factor in determining the coagulation time (Gell time). this research aims is  to make fiberglass production  can be easily calculated by using the equations as below:

by knowing mixture composition,and laminating time needed,catayts composition can be determine.so that the production procces can run efectively  and efeciently
