Abstract

Mechanical contact is unavoidable in machining, minimizing wear from contact is to provide lubrication to the system. Resilience lubricant viscosity with temperature is influenced by the type of lube base oil. The purpose of testing is to determine the characteristics of plain bearings and Knowing the pressure distribution on plain bearings and the changes that occur as the viscosity of lubricating oil on plain bearings.

The experiments used various  lubricants, ie : SAE 40, SAE 50, SAE 60, and various load, ie : 150, 300 and 450 gram each experiment conducted three time. These test results show that the presence of lubricating oil, the rotation axis can be going well, and lubrication can reduce the friction between the bearing and the shaft.
