Cassava is one of Sawahlunto's commodities and crops that have a lot of fans. Cassava is not just can be fried or boiled, but can be made as a snack. The equipment used by workers for its cutting is simple and manually done, using a hand crank, with the increasing of human demands for needs given that the existing tools are less efficient, to overcome these problems, one of which is to design a chopper machine /cassava cutter with foot pedal drive.

 

This machine is planned to consist of four parts, namely, the house blades, cutting blade, grounding pieces and moving parts. The working principle of the machine that design by the author is to utilize the power with pedal system.

 

The results of the design based on the calculation of anthropometric data obtained by means of a high frame size 620 mm, width 600 mm and a frame length of 1200 mm. The seat height 45 mm, the transmission system with the ratio 1:5 by using the sprocket sizes 50 mm and 250 mm, so it can achieved a higher rpm than the previous cassava chopper tool with a relatively stable rotation.
