ABSTRACT

In industry that manufactures engine components, will not be separated from the process called machining. Many forms and kinds of machining process depends on the expected product form and characteristics. One of the machining process that plays an important role in the industry is the metal cutting process using a lathe CNC (Computer Numerically controled). But when considered further, not uncommon machining process is done incorrectly, for example the use of variables such as the cutting process; cutting speed, depth of cut, and the motion was not eating right. Thus the problems, issues that will be studied is How big is the performance of CNC lathe type TU-2A in the machining process of the brass rod diameter of 22 mm short cut along the 50 mm by using a chainsaw. Then do the turning process using a carbide tool ISO P25 / K20C which has a chisel geometry (angle of the main pieces, kr = 90o da oblique angle λ = 0 °) and during this turning process using a tail stock. And the conclusions that can be drawn from these studies is the depth of the pieces have an influence on the amount of generated power cut during the machining process takes place, ie the greater the greater the depth of cut pieces generated power and motion eat and spindle rotation have an influence on the amount of power cut generated, where the greater the smaller spindle rotation caused power cut, while the greater the larger the meal motion caused power cut.
