Abstract

Brake system is one of the important components in maintaining the safety of the aircraft during landing and entering the apron. It becomes its own assessment for the airline to give satisfaction to the passengers. If the breaking system is not functioning or a failure, it will affect the performance of the aircraft when the arrival or departure.

Analysis on the brake system Airbus A320 aircraft conducted to determine the braking load, power and braking distance. The velocity of the aircraft while on the apron towards the gate is 20 km/h  to 30 km/h. The results of analysis shown the braking power need to stop the rotation of the disk brake is 135.71 horse power. That caused friction during braking 11.97 kgf for aircraft velocity 30 km/h. Its made the brake distance is 76 m. The increase braking force will enhance the friction  force and its decrease the length of braking distances.
