Abstract

Briquette is one of the ways used to convert biomass into energy sources  of other biomass by compressed, so that the shape becomes more irregular.Biomass is organic material produced by photosynthetic processes , either in form of products or effluent. Examples of biomass are plants , trees , grass , tubers , agricultural waste , forest waste , excreta and cattle dung.This study using methode Analysis of Variance ( ANOVA ) which is a method to describe the total diversity of data into components that measure various sources of diversity .Briquetting is done by comparing the composition of the charcoal with kanji are 1: 0.08 , 1 : 0.1 , 1 : 0:12. While the ratio of kanji with water is 1:16 liter . The obtained best results on the composition of 1 : 0.08 with a calorific value of 5580.19 cal / gram , the moisture content < 8 % and ash content < 8 %. These results meet the good quality of  briquettes viewed by SNI 01-6235-2000 , the good charcoal quality if the calorific value is greater than 5000 cal / g , maximum ash content of 8 % and a maximum water content of 8%. With the use of the charcoal  briquettes eventually expected to provide new business opportunities for the people in the East Agam and help IKM and UKM in the use of fuel for the continuation of its business . And then is to design the working methods of making briquettes by instruction work.
