Abstract
Controlling the frequency is vital for an MHP, as it can affect the operation of the MHP. Frequency control system on theMHP are basically two kinds, namely, the governor
(
water discharge control system
)
and the Electronic Load Controller
(
electronic load control system)
. Governor commonly used in large-capacity hydropower generator
(
Mega Watt
)
, while the MHP
generally using ELC. ELC is a tool commonly used in MHP for control frequency, the generator ELC always operated under full
load conditions, so in terms of energy savings tool is not efficient because of the burden discarded useless to a dummy load. while
the governor has the advantages can set the frequency generator without having to waste energy in vain. Therefore, control of
planning done by using a frequency generator MHP Governor's capacity, which in the process of setting the frequency generator
with a control algorithm that is used is a PID controller using matlab program.
