Abstract

This study aims to determine the tensile strength and impact on the variation of the current strength 55-65 A, 70-80 A, 85-95 A, 100-110 A by using Las SMAW (Shield Metal Arc Welding) AC. This study uses a low carbon steel. Material treated with a variety of powerful welding current 55-65 A, 70-80 A, 85-95 A, 100-110 A. With menggunalan SMAW welding electrode RB26 AC with a diameter of 2.6 mm. Seam types used are hem V with a 70o angle. Specimens testing the tensile and impact. The tensile strength is highest in current variation 100-110 amperes is equal to 449 MPa, which dropped by 12.5 MPa of raw material. The highest yield strength at current variation 100-110 amperes is equal to 333.6 MPa which is an increase of 23.6 MPa of raw material. On testing the impact energy value is highest impact on current variation 85-95 Ampere is equal to 57.02 Joule is an increase of 9.63 Joules of raw material. Value price is highest impact on the variation of the current 85-95 ampere is equal to 1,007 Joules / mm2 which increased by 0.065 Joules / mm2 of raw material.
