REVITALISASI KAWASAN PADANG LAMA DENGAN PENDEKATAN ADAPTIVE REUSE

Abstrak

The Old Town Padang is the beginning of the growth of Padang City with a history in the region, the strategic location makes the Netherlands make the Old Town Padang a trading center and port at that time, because of that many Heritage Buildings build at the area and it starting to be threatened. Using Adaptive Re-use theme, which is inserting new functions into buildings that meet the needs of the present, it is hoped that they can maximize their functions and facilitate activities n The Old Town Padang. The success of Adaptive Re-use can be seen if the building can meet all three benefits, for environmental, social and economic. The research methods used include field data collection, literature studies and empirical studies. The results of this study confirm that the principle of the application of Adaptive Re-use can be found through various forms of buildings that are related to the function and culture where the building was designed, the use of Art Deco architectural styles with adjustments to the present, and the use of additional materials that do not damage the construction of buildings that are aims to appreciate the history of the building.
