Abstract

Abstract
Tilapia is one of the commodity consumption of fish that contain vitamins, carbohydrates and
protein is pretty good. Tilapia fish farming should be supported by a good feed and a
relatively cheap price. Therefore it is good we can utilize local raw materials whose prices are
not too expensive. This study aimed to measure the effectiveness of the use of feed-based raw
materials locally for enlargement tilapia compared to commercial feed. The results of this
research can be used as a solution dependence on expensive commercial feed. This study was
conducted in July-September 2012 in Bayur, Maninjau, West Sumatra. Test fish used is tail
16,000 Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) measuring 3-4 cm. This research is descriptive
method 2 treatments and 2 replications. The first treatment is providing artificial diets to the
test fish. While the second treatment is to give commercial feed to the test fish. Parameters
measured were survival rate, specific growth rate weights, specific growth rate long, and feed
conversion. The result showed the highest survival rate is the first treatment (55.8%). For the
specific growth rate is the highest weight first treatment (7.25%). The specific growth rate is
the highest long first treatment (3.79%). For the most efficient feed conversion is the first
treatment (1.61%). From the results of the above four parameters based feed raw materials
locally (BPPBAT, Sempur, Bogor) is more effective than the commercial feed (Comfeed).
