Abstract

The purpose of this study to determine the structure of the existing mangrove vegetation in
the coastal area around the village of Lasara Sawo District of Sawo North Nias North Sumatra
province that includes the type, density, frequency, dominance and importance. The method
used was purposive sampling plot is set transect study based on density and differences
biosfik conditions (substrate, the location of the mangrove, mangrove species) with transects
totaling three (3) research station. Plot size is for the tree level 10 x 10 m, the level of 5 x 5 m
saplings and seedlings 1 x 1 m. The results of the 3 (station) value - average KR, FR, DR and
NP for the tree level L. littorea 3.18%, 3.70%, 6.22% and 13.10%. R. apiculata 19.73%,
25.18%, 18.61% and 63.52%. R. mucronata 62.73%, 53.34%, 51.66% and 167.73%. R.
stylosa 11.46%, 14.08%, 10.98% and 36.51%. S. alba 2.90%, 3.70%, 12.53% and 19.14%.
For puppies level L. littorea 0.88%, 2.22%, 0.67% and 3.77%. R. apiculata 17.43%, 27.78%,
16.52% and 61.73%. R. mucronata 69.54%, 55.55%, 70.18% and 194.72%. R. stylosa
12.15%, 15.00%, 12.63%, and 39.78%. For Seedlings L. littotea 11.11%, 11.11% and
22.22%. R. apiculata 16.67%, 11.12%, and 27.78%. R. mucronata 57.78%, 69.44% and
127.22. R. stylosa 14.44%, 8.33% and 22.78%. Coastal village of Lasara Sawo found 10 (ten)
mangrove species, 6 (six) species of them are true mangrove namely B. gymnorhiza, L.
littorea, R. apiculata, R. mucronata, R. stylosa and S. alba and 4 (four) other species are
mangrove followup namely A. aureum, M. citrifolia, P. tectorius and S. taccada.
