STUDI TENTANG KONDISI TUTUPAN KARANG HIDUP DI PERAIRAN PULAU PIEH KABUPATEN PADANG PARIAMAN SUMATERA BARAT

Abstract

Research about life coral cover  percentage has been done on the sea of Pieh Island, Padang Pariaman district, West Sumatera. The aim of this research are to acknowledge the condition of life coral cover on the sea of Pieh Island. We used descriptive research method.  Data collection has been doing in 4 station, station 1 (south),  station 2 ( west), station 3 (north), station 4 (east), by using Line Intercept Transect (LIT) method, with 5 - 10 meter depth. The result of this research are the overview of Island Pieh sea quality were normal, with median clarity 18,25 meter, temperature 29,25⁰C, pH 8, salinity 33 ⁰/₀₀, pospat 0,24 mg/ L,  and nitrat 0,72mg/L. The condition of life coral in 5m depth in station 1, 39,07%, station II 51,73%, station III 33,8% and station IV 64,03%. In 10 m depth in station I 39,47%, station II 52,1%, station III 29%, and station IV 22,2%. The result of mortality index in 5 m depth in station I 0,60%, station II 0,48%, station III 0,44%, and station IV 0,65%. Within 10 m depth, in station I 0,56%, station II 0,46%, station III 0,77%, and station IV 0,60%. The condition of coral in Pieh Island sea are in good condition.
