Abstract

Arabic language is one of most foreign language studied by indonesian people,  learn arabic language is relationship with arabic calligraphy. In islamic cultural heritage arabic handwriting is known as islamic calligraphy. Which has important role, because it’s one of skill (maharah) from four skill (maharah) in arabic disipline, it’s part of maharah al-kitabah (writing skill), beside callipraphy is islam religion symbol because al-quran is writted using arabic script, same with hadist prophet Muhammad SAW, And it’s including the symbol of islamic art because development in line with spirit Al Quran. It is supported by the verses of al-quran as motivator and a source of inspiration which is Q.S. al-“Alaq” dan Q.S. “Nun”. While in indonesia, its development is not so exceptional, both in terms of art, and its usefullness in development of education, because this calligraphy, is a media in express knowledge and can be used as a media learning islam religion also learning arabic media. Along with the development of the schools the nuances of Islam in Indonesia, began from Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah, MTs, Madrasah Aliyah and integrated Islamic schools more demand by public Indonesia that the majority embraced Islam. To develop the necessary strategies according to the educational level of students, so that calligraphy can be developed along with the development of Islamic Studies and Arabic Sciences developments. In this discussion express about the definition of learning strategies, definition of Islamic calligraphy, and the effectiveness of learning calligraphy for children of primary school.
