FUNGSI STATISTIK KRIMINAL DALAM PENANGGULANGAN TINDAK PIDANA NARKOTIKA (STUDI KASUS DI KEPOLISAN DAERAH RIAU)

Abstract

According to Article 1 point 4 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2002 concerning the Police, the Police have the duty and authority to maintain public order and security. Included in this case is the prevention of narcotics crime. In carrying out this role, the Police need statistical data on crime. At the Riau Police, this criminal statistical data is used in efforts to combat narcotics crimes. Formulation of the problem: 1) What is the function of criminal statistics in overcoming narcotics crimes at the Riau Regional Police? 2) What are the obstacles in collecting criminal statistical data in handling narcotics crimes at the Riau Regional Police? Types of sociological juridical research; primary data sources (interviews), secondary data (criminal statistics on narcotics crime cases), data were analyzed qualitatively. Conclusion: 1) The Riau Regional Police have used criminal statistics in handling narcotics crimes. Criminal statistics are very helpful in mapping the locus delicti of narcotics crimes; 2) Obstacles in collecting criminal statistical data in handling narcotics crimes at the Riau Police consist of internal and external factors.
