Abstract

Theft of customer data through Skimming is a serious criminal activity that poses significant risks to individuals and financial institutions. Dif erent countries have enacted laws to address this issue, such as Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions in Indonesia, the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 in Malaysia, the Personal Data Protection Act 2019 in Thailand, and the Personal Data Protection Act in Singapore. While these countries share some similarities in addressing Skimming crimes, there are notable dif erences in the legal aspects governing these of enses. The research conducted in this study is a normative legal research, specifically Comparative Law Research. It involves a comparison of the national laws related to customer data theft (Skimming) in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore. Secondary data, including primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials, were utilized for this analysis. The data was collected through document analysis and subsequently qualitatively analyzed.
