Abstract

The research deals with basic emotion of fear. Parrot (2001) classified theemotion into three categories. The writer focus to analyze the topic of fear expression of horror and nervousness in the novel Goosebump vol. 1: Welcome to
Dead House. Novel was written by R.L Stine. The writers choose the novel because everyone has felt fear, but the way to express it is different. Therefore the writer are interested to examine this fear expression.The writer analyzed fear expression based on Parrot’s classification that consists of fear of horror and fear of nervousness. Thewriteruse descriptive methods in this qualitative research. After analyzing the data, the writer finds that six types of fear of horror has found they are alarm, shock, fear, fright, horror, terror,and then two types of fear of nervousness dread and worry in the novel Goosebump: The Dead House.
