Abstract

This thesis examine about nature reflection in kyogashi. The reason of the writer to take this title because the writer wanted to know about how nature reflected in kyogashi based of the four seasons in Japan especially Kyoto prefecture. This research is using descriptive method and culture theory. From this research, the writer found that kyogashi is the basic of Japanese traditional confectionery today as know as wagashi because kyogashi related to a long history about traditional confectionery in Japan. Then, kyogashi reflect the nature by their shapes, names and their seasonal ingredients. It is related to the nature because of Japanese faith, Shinto and Buddha, who teach them to love the nature because nature is the power of god, and they show their love to the nature with their cultural products, which one of them is kyogashi. In addition, kyogashi have a soft and mild texture which distinguish it from another Japanese confectionery, because kyogashi made from high quality ingredients and using Kyoto water.
