Indonesian Language Abreviation in the Newspaper of Haluan

Abstract

"> Abreviation is a morphologichal process in the form of fragments of one or several
lexemes so that mew forms occur with the status of words. The form of abreviation involves
ab
breviations, acronyms, fragments and letter symbols. This study aims to describe the form
of Indonesian language in the newspaper of Haluan.
This abreviation study has been carried out by Adi (2014), Ramadhani (2016) and
Sahara (2019). In this study is used Harimurti Kridalaksana theory (2009). Harimurti explain
ab
reviations divided into four parts, the abbreviations which are the result of an abbreviated
process, an acronym which is short for a combination of letters or syllabel or other parts
written or pronounced as word in accordance with the phonotactic rules of the relevant
language, fragments is the result of beheading process, and letter symbols are the result of a
shortening process in the form of one or more letters that describe the basic concepts of
quantity or elements.
The method used is descriptive method. Data for this study were taken in the
newspaper of Haluan from June to November 2018. The data collection methods and
techniques used are the listening method and the note taking technique. Data collection
technique carried out in a way (a) reading a newspaper of Haluan, (b) mark and underline
data relating to abreviation, and (c) record on the data card related abreviation. The method
and data analysis technique used is the method of sharing with marking reading technique
and fading technique.
Based on the result of the analysis conducted, found four forms of abreviation namely
(a) abbreviation in the form of conversing the first letter of abreviation with conjungtions and
prepositions; conversing of the first letter abreviation with conjungtions; abreviations with
the first letter of each componen; conservation of the first four letters of a word; conserving
the first abreviation of the first word and second letter of the combined word; conservation of
irregular letters abreviation. (b) acronym in the form of preserving the first term’s abreviation
acronym of each component; conserving the acronym for the first two letter of each
component; conservation of first and second syllable acronyms and first letter of the
fo
llowing components; conserving the acronym for the first two letters of each component;
conserving the acronyms of the first three letter abreviations of each component; conversing
the acronym abreviation the first component and the second three letter of the first component,
(c) fragments of abreviation is the last syllable of a word; conservation of the first four letter
of a word and (d) letter symbol in the from of letter symbol which marks the size; and symbol
