AN ANALYSIS OF CATEGORY SHIFT IN THE MOVIE OF KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE

Abstract

The world is changing day by day and translation studies become the media or bridge to avoid the gap of communications. Translation has been described by several experts as the replacement of the textual material in source language by equivalent textual material in target language [1]. It is the process of rendering the meaning of a text into another language in the way that writer or researcher intended the text [2]. What kind of Category shfit can be found in the movie? Translation shift has two main types, namely shifting levels and shifting categories. Category Shift has four types, there are structural shifts, unit shifts, class shifts, and intra-system shifts. Language (SL) into Target Language (TL) [3]. How is the shift achieving a translation equivalent in translaton? Translations must be clear and easy to understand, this is very much agreed with the considerations that have been released and the exact equivalent of the words. translation equivalents can be divided into 2 parts, they are textual equivalents and formal correspondence. Textual equivalence is the equivalence of parts of the text of any language that is observed at any given time which is equivalent to the source language text that is obtained. While formal correspondence is part of the target language such as classes, units, structures that can fill the same position as the categories that occupy the source language. [1]. Kingsman: The Golden Circle movie is about secret defense organization who wants to stop the pharmaceutical company that owns the biggest drug cartel called The Golden Circle with a company chairman named Poppy Adam.
