Abstract

This research will discussed about directive speech act in the You, Me and Dupree movie. This research will studied and analyzes through utterances spoken by character in this film.Ther’re four types found in this research; commanding, requesting, suggesting, and asking. Then are three are form in data ; imperative, introgrative, and declarative. The different gender of directive speech act in movie are explained in several different genders in each type and form in the You, Me and Dupree movie. This thesis will use Searle theory about the term of directive speech act. The method of this research is qualitative research that provides data related to data analysis and focuses on obtaining data thru open conversation and communication
