AN ANALYSIS OF LOVE EXPRESSIONS THROUGH THE WORDS USED IN THE JUSTIN BIEBER’S LYRICS

Abstract

Love is one of the topics that has always been interesting to discuss from the past to the present because love is a powerful human feeling that can be conveyed literally and figuratively. This research aims to describe the types and explain how the words are used to convey the feelings of love in the album Believe (2012). The writers use the qualitative method. The data of this research were taken from Believe’s (2012) album which consists of 13 songs. The writers found the type of love affection, lust, and longing. Literal words of love expressions were identified in 34 out of 50 data. Hyperbole is a figure of speech that is most widely used to express feelings of love. Besides that, the writers found metaphor, personification, and simile figures of speech.
