AN ANALYSIS OF POLITENESS STRATEGIES IN LA LA LAND MOVIE

This study is a pragmatic examination of the politeness strategies used by the characters in the film "LA LA LAND” (2016). Damien Chazelle directed the film. Brown and Levinson's (1987) theory is applied by the writer. The goals of this study are to (1) identify the types of politeness strategies used in the film "LA LA LAND," and (2) What are the factors which influence the use of politeness strategies in the “LA LA LAND” movie. All research questions are analysed using the descriptive qualitative method in this research. The data source was La La Land movie script. The data were collected by note-taking technique then they were classified and analyzed.References
