REALISASI ON DAN GIRI TOKOH HIIRO DALAM MOVIE TENSEI SHITARA SURAIMU DATTA KEN

Abstract

This research aims to reveal Hiiro’s realization of On and Giri, the Japanese culture. As an ogre, Hiiro once received kindness from Towa, the queen of Raja ShouaKoku. In return, Hiiro sought to repay the favor he had received. The material object of this research is the movie Tensura, human and ogre live together as movie setting. The theories used are characterization through the dramatic methods, the five stages of plot, and On and Giri. A qualitative descriptive method used with the analysis resulting in descriptions of qualitative data in the form of phenomena. The research reveal a correlation between character and plot with the realization of On and Giri. Hiiro receives four (4) On from Towa due to her characterizations: caring, friendly, sacrifice and gratitude. Conversely, Hiiro reciprocated On by giving five (5) Giri to Towa. Hiiro's Giri towards Towa is driven by his characterizations: responsibility, perseverance, politeness, and willingness to sacrifice. In conclusion, the realization of On and Giri is related to the characterization traits of each character. The On from Towa occurs during the situation (beginning) and denouement (ending) stages of the plot. Hiiro's Giri does not occur during the climax because he loses control of himself because of poison. There is a balance between On and Giri, between the giver and the receiver to creat cultural harmony.
