Abstract

This study discussed about the expression of freedom that drawed through imagery in My Story's album by Hamasaki Ayumi. The writer researched four songs with the theme of freedom. The reason of writer chose the freedom theme was inspirated by song lyric have element of freedom. Expression of freedom drawed trough imagery.
This research used the imagery theory by Pradopo. The imagery divided into visual imagery, auditory imagery, tactile imagery, imagery of foretaste, olfactory imagery, imagery of thought, and imagery of movement. This research was a qualitative research that produced descriptive data in form of words. The research method is descriptive research method.
The results showed that there were two imagery that did not use in song lyric. There were imagery foretaste and olfactory imagery. Expression of freedom can be seen trough the theme of on the fourth song lyric that have theme of freedom. That were My Name 's Women, Walking Proud, Winding Road, and Humming 7/4. Many expression of freedom depicted through in imagery of movement. There were the freedom of motion, talk, act, and the people domination. The lyrics have meaning to show the tough of woman seen in My Name 's Women's; have self confidence seen in Walking Proud's; enthusiasm and confidence seen in Winding Road's; have spirit of life seen in Humming 7/4's.
