REDUPLIKASI BAHASA MINANGKABAU DI DAERAH BALAI SELASA PESISIR SELATAN

Abstract

Reduplication is the continuity of some or a wholly form of words in linguistics. The
problem in this research is the forms and meanings of the reduplication of minangkabau
language in the area of Balai Selasa, Pesisir Selatan.this research aims to describe the forms
and meanings of the reduplication of Minangkabau Language in the area of Balai Selasa,
Pesisir Selatan. In analyzing the forms and meanings the reduplication of Minangkabau
language in Balai Selasa, Pesisir Selatan the theory used is chaer (2008). The method
emplemented is the descriptive method. In collecting data, the methods used are ‘simak
method ‘tansemuka’ method and ‘noting method’ in analyzing data, the methods are ‘agih
method’ ‘ubah ujud method’, ‘markah reading technique ‘and’ lesap technique’. The results
have shown that the forms of reduplication which are found are (1) the noun reduplication
forms of root and affix; it has been fomd that there are three meanings of reduplication, they
are (1) the noun reduplication of ‘bermakna banyak’ ‘berjenis’ ‘ukuran’ and ‘makna
menyerupai’; (2) the verbal reduplication of ‘kejadian berulang-ulang’ ‘kejadian berintensitas’
‘kejadian berbalasan’, and ‘tindakan’; (3) the adjective reduplication of ‘bermakna banyak’
yang dasar’, ‘warna’, ‘keadaan’, ‘intensitas’, and ‘keadaan dan sikap’.
