AN ANALYSIS OF SLANG AS INFORMAL STYLE USED BY VIDEO JOCKEYS ON CHANNEL V

Abstract

The paper of slang as informal style aims to find the forms of slang and the meaning of slang
through the video jockeys given by Danny and Carrisa. The paper based on the theories that
are explained by Richard. The data is the texts that are recorded existing in the videos. The
videos collected from the internet in the website of Youtube. Based on the results of the
research, the writer has found the two forms of slang. They are the form of ‘words’ and the
form of ‘phrase’. From the two forms of slang in this research, the form of ’words’ has a lot
of amount found in the videos than the form of ‘phrase’. The meaning of the slang is based
on the context given in the videos. The setting of the videos or the participants denote the
meaning of the slang.
