AN ANALYSIS OF POLITENESS STRATEGIES IN DONALD DUCK COMIC

Abstract

In this thesis, the writer describes about types of politeness strategies in Donald duck comic.
Data were collected from Donald duck comic of English version and in internet. The data
were analyzed by using the theory of George Yule “politeness”. In Yule there are four tipes in
politeness strategies is bold on record, off record, positve politeness and negative politeness
but, in this thesis writer only found three types of politeness strategies are found. The types
of politeness strategis in Donald duck comic are bold on record, positive politeness and
negative politeness. The bold on record is used by the speaker whose position is huger to talk
to the lower one The positive and negative are used by speaker to show respect each there
regard less of status.
