AN ANALYSIS OF ILLOCOTIONARY ACT IN TANJUNG DURIAN BAYANG DISTRICT, SOUTH PESISIR REGENCY

Abstract

Illocution is speech act which have function to state something and hoping there is
respond from the addressee. The problem in this research is how kind and meaning of
illocutionary act in Tanjung Durian, Bayang District, South Pesisir Regency. This research
is aim to describe sort of meaning of illocutionary act in Tanjung Durian, Bayang District,
South Pesisir Regency. This research used descriptive method. The data of this research
are collected by using observation method with elicitation technique, recording technique,
and note taking technique. The analysis is conducted by equivalent method including basic
technique. To see illocutionary act in Tanjung Durian used Yale’s theory. There is
declaration, representative, expressive, directive, and comissive. The result of this research
are (1) two kinds of declaration, like and dislike; (2) three kinds of representative, which
are negation, conclusion, and description; (3) six kinds of expressive, they are happiness,
hardship, joy, anger, justification, and misery; (4) four kinds of directive, they are orders,
reservations, requests, and giving advice; and (5) four kind of commissive, they are
promises, threats, rejection, and pledge.
